Inside My LoveThe In-Love Room

Here’s how it happened: life was going on as usual, and then I fell in love.

I found that falling in love feels like lying inside a seashell rocked by the tide, with the tickle of champagne bubbles and quiet music all around you.

At first, I was nervous and almost afraid to look at this feeling too closely: what if it disappeared? But instead, the feeling grew into love, and the love grew stronger and wanted to come out, to fill more space. That’s how I came up with the “In-Love Room”.

I wanted to create a space

  1. for those who are in love — to share it;
  2. for those who want to fall in love — to inspire them;
  3. for those who haven’t been in love for a long time — to remind them;
  4. and for those who are afraid of falling in love — to reassure them.

In this room, I tell a story of love as I know it: tender, cozy, safe, intimate, and very beautiful. It touches all the senses, stirs you a little, and soothes you a lot.

You could probably live without it, but it’s still better with it.

Love is patient… Ah, sorry, wrong fairy tale.

Space

A small room with a soft floor: a handmade white mattress, with pillows, of course.

Different pieces of textile and ribbons cascade down from the ceiling. Some are semi-transparent, some lace-like, some denser. They are in light tones and of different lengths. Together they create a feeling of shelter, intimacy, romantic mood and lightness.

Light

Warm yellow and soft light pink. Four light sources are placed in the corners of the room. The light is dim and gentle.

Glass spheres, beads, and other same elements will diffuse, reflect, and refract the light throughout the room.

Sound

Sound comes from several points around the room. The soundscape includes pink noise, a personal playlist, whispers, and breathing. Different volumes create a layered, multidimensional sonic space.

Images / Surface

Some of the textiles are printed with silhouettes, contours, and lines resembling the traces of love scratches.

Smell

The room is filled with a mix of scents: tobacco/birch tar, rose, musk and sea water. The mix will be very delicate, felt more than consciously noticed.
